Shipwrecked Mariners' Society

The Society provides financial support to ex-mariners and their dependants in retirement and those who are unable to work at sea owing to accident, illness, disability or for compassionate reasons. Financial support can be in the form of a regular grant or a one-off grant to deal with an immediate problem including a funeral or both. It also pays an immediate grant to the widow of a serving fisherman or mariner where there is need. The circumstances of regular beneficiaries are normally reviewed every three years.
